The first Four Winds training is Tuesday, September 17th, at 8:15am. Come to a welcome breakfast beforehand at 7:45.
Volunteering as a Four Winds teacher is a fun and rewarding way to get to know the RES community, learn a lot, and share your love of the natural world with RES children. You need only interest and enthusiasm--no specialized knowledge is required. A well designed curriculum and training in how to teach it is provided. This year’s curriculum theme is “Patterns in Nature.”
Volunteers (2-4 per classroom) team-teach 6 sessions of about one hour each during the school year. Preceding each session, volunteers receive a two-hour training taught by a professional environmental educator.
Trainings will be held Tuesday mornings from 8:15 to 10:15 am on:
Sept. 17, October 15, November 19, January 7, March 11, and April 29.
Classroom teaching times are set by each team in consultation with the classroom teacher. The total time commitment for the school year: approximately 24 hours (includes an additional hour of prep time per class).
