UNICEF at RES #resvt #cesuvt #vted

UNICEF at RES is a great volunteer opportunity for parents new to RES!

I have been coordinating the RES Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign for a number of years.  Penny-by-penny, we've raised thousands of dollars to help kids in need around the world.  Now that I have no kids at RES, I would love to recruit a parent of a younger child (pre-school would be great!) to work with me to organize the distribution and collection of boxes this year so that we make sure to continue to connect with families of younger kids.

This is a great volunteer project for any parent (most tasks can be done at night outide of working/school hours) and your kids can help, too.  Tasks include: promoting the campaign through press releases, Front Porch Forum, signs around town, and school media; counting and distributing the boxes to classrooms the week before Halloween; making a box for collecting the boxes of change after Halloween; taking the change to a local bank or organizing kids to count and roll coins; submitting the proceeds to UNICEF and publicizing the results.  There is plenty of opporunity for other creative fundraising to benefit UNICEF: boxes or cans at local businesses, a party or costume swap, etc.  For more information about the great work UNICEF does to help kids around the world, see: http://www.trickortreatforunicef.org/.
