Find books you love.
Welcome new Cougar Cubs, and welcome back returning scholars
and families! I'm looking forward to a great year of reading, researching,
and creating in the RES library.
Parents and family members are always welcome at the
library, and I’m always looking for volunteers to help out. Please email me at
beth.redford@cesuvt.org, or call 434-2461 if you are interested in
volunteering, or if you ever have any questions or comments about the library.
I look forward to hearing from you! - Beth Redford, RES Teacher Librarian
Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions
about the library:
When does my child visit the library?
Students visit the
library once a week with their classes for "book shopping" plus a
literature or research skills lesson. A complete schedule is available here:
Library Class Schedule.
Mondays: Ayer, Berliner
Tuesdays: Agner, Ankerson, Robinson
Wednesdays: Cross, Hackett, Senning
Thursdays: Darby, Gilbar, Mumford, Riggs
Fridays: Darling, Purvee, Erickson
When is the library open?
7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed for
lunch, after school bus duty, and occasional meetings)
How many books or other library items can my child check
out?
Students may have two items checked out at a time. With the
permission of their classroom teachers, students are welcome to exchange books
in between their once-weekly class library visits.
When are my child's library items due back?
Library items are due back on your child's class library day
each week. Your child may borrow items for additional weeks (or
"renew" them) as long as no one else is waiting for them. Please send
them in on library day even if your child wants to renew them.
The library emails overdue item reminders to parents once a
week, and follows up with a paper notice home if items are not returned after
this. If you prefer not to receive email notices, please contact me at the
email address below. Also, please contact me if you are not receiving email
reminders and would like to do so.
Can I check out items from the RES library?
Yes! Family members can get accounts at the RES library.
This is a great thing to do if your child goes through a lot of books,
especially new readers who may read several "skinny books" in one
week
What other items does the RES library check out besides
books?
The RES library also checks out magazines and audiobooks on
CD and Playaway dedicated MP3 players.
What other services does the library provide?
The library offers free online books that children can read
and listen to at home. Please visit the RES Library website (“Library” tab on
the left side of the RES web page at www.richmond.k12.vt.us, and scroll down to
PebbleGo or TumbleBooks for more information). There is no login or password
for TumbleBooks if you go through the link on the library web page. Please
contact me at beth.redford@cesuvt.org or 434-2461 if you would like the
password for PebbleGo.
