Care
For Kids: A
Child Sexual Abuse
Prevention Curriculum
ACT
1 requires that all schools 1) educate children about sexual abuse,
2) educate school staff about child sexual abuse and 3) inform
parents about child sexual abuse. Unfortunately, in recent years, we
have all become aware that the sexual abuse of young children is more
common in our society than we would like to believe. ACT 1 is the
law enacted in March of 2009 that is dedicated to improving Vermont’s
Sexual Abuse Response System.
On
November 1, 2012
a
representative from Prevent Child Abuse Vermont will be here to
provide a parent information workshop on the topic of recognizing and
preventing child sexual abuse and to review the Care for Kids
curriculum that will be implemented by Chittenden East Counselors in
the winter of 2013. All families and community members are
encouraged to attend. Look for more information coming soon. The
following link from the Vermont Agency of Human Services Department
for Children and Families is very informative: http://dcf.vermont.gov/sites/ dcf/files/pdf/protectkids/ GuideforParents.pdf
