First graders are sharing fairy tales in their library classes. They are looking for evidence in the text and illustrations of the stories for each of these characteristics:
Start with "once upon a time"
Have magic in them
Have good and bad characters
Main character has a problem to solve
Things come in 3s
Have happy endings
We'll be sharing more fairy tales in the next few weeks, and we'll see if every story has every one of these characteristics...does a story have to have all of these things to be a fairy tale?
