Scared
by the high price tags on Halloween costumes?
Like to make your own costume, but looking for inspiration? Your kids love playing dress-up, but are
bored or have outgrown their old costumes? Swap instead of shop!
Join
Richmond Elementary FOCUS for a parent and planet-friendly event at the last Richmond
Farmer’s Market of the Season - Friday, October 12th from 3 –
6:30pm.
The
FOCUS Costume Swap is recycling at its most fun! Kids get new-to-them costumes,
parents save money... and the planet!
How to participate:
Ø Simply
donate clean, gently-used costumes, masks or accessories. We will operate a 3-level
token system. Small items like
accessories will be worth one token, while full costumes with multiple parts
will be worth three tokens.
Ø Drop
off your donation between now and October 10th at Richmond Elementary
School. A drop box will be located
outside the building under the overhang by the front door. Put your items in a bag and be sure to leave your name
on the bag if you want to get tokens for the exchange. If you have lots of pieces that go with the
costume, please put them together in one
bag.
Ø We
will also accept children’s costumes from anyone who wants to make a donation
only. Please state “donation only” on
your bag.
Ø Come
to the Richmond Farmer’s Market on Friday, Oct 11th, from 3pm –
6:30pm. If you dropped off a donation
earlier, you will pick up your tokens at our booth and then be able to “shop”
for a “new” to you costume.
Ø If
you didn’t get a chance to donate a costume prior to the Farmer’s Market, you
can still participate! Bring your
donated costume to the Farmer’s Market and you can exchange it for tokens on
the day. However, participants will have
greater choice and there will be better organization if we can receive your
donation ahead of time!
Please note:
Ø We
cannot guarantee that each child will find a costume that they like or that
will fit.
Ø Costumes
that are left over after the swap will be donated to area charities and cannot be returned to you.
