RES receives Fuel Up to Play 60 Award

RES is one of 4 schools in Vermont to be awarded funds from Fuel Up to Play 60. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a nationwide program designed to help students, working with adults, make themselves and their schools healthier. Karyl Kent and Amy Gifford accepted a check for $3,021 from Jill Goodroe of the New England Dairy & Food Council. Most of the funds will be used to create a cooking cart, a soup-to-nuts mobile kitchen that will facilitate cooking and teaching nutrition education in the classroom. The rest of the money will be used to create a 10-station fitness path near the playground to encourage physical activity and a Family Wellness Night this winter which will feature the debut of the cooking cart and fun, healthy family activities.
