RES's Farm to School Program is thrilled to be able to participate in the Vermont Harvest of the Month program, a campaign that promotes the use of local, seasonal food through monthly, school wide taste tests. Last week students had the opportunity to taste two apple varieties, Red Delicious and McIntosh. You may think that students might not get overly excited about a fruit as seemingly ordinary as an apple; however, on the day of this taste test you would have heard nothing but enthusiasm and delight as students nibbled on their apples and discussed their preferences at their tables. The reviews were all positive with more than one student remarking, "I don't like it, I LOVE it!" Next month's taste test will be broccoli and cauliflower.
