Four Winds Contributions

At this time of year, many people make charitable gifts to their favorite organizations and efforts both outside and within our school community. I’m writing as an RES parent to let you know about one such giving opportunity.

Four Winds is a natural science program taught once a month in each RES classroom K-4 by a team of parents and other community volunteers. It’s a well designed curriculum full of fun, hands-on learning activities that help students connect to the natural world. The kids love this program and learn a lot from it - and so do the volunteers. This month we're learning about bird migrations.

It costs $2200 per year to bring the program to our school, money that is raised entirely by our volunteers. We have been working hard to raise money through selling fresh-squeezed lemonade at the farmers market, baked goods outside the Richmond Market, and handmade ornaments at holiday crafts fairs. To date, we’ve raised about half the funds needed.

While we will continue these efforts, I suspect that there are some people who would like to support this program but who, like me, would prefer to just send money. Let me make it easy for you: Checks can be made out to the Four WInds Nature Institute and earmarked for RES, and mailed to RES 4 Winds, c/o Lauren Esserman, 129 Church St, Richmond 05477. Donations of any amount would be welcomed and appreciated.

Four Winds Nature Institute is a Vermont-based nonprotit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible. If you prefer, you can also make a donation through PayPal at http://www.fwni.org - please let them know with an email that it is for RES.

Thanks for considering it!
