Dear Chittenden East Families


Dear Chittenden East Families:

Our thoughts, hearts and prayers are with the children, families and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.  This incomprehensible tragedy has impacted the entire nation.  No words can describe the sorrow and heartache reverberating across Connecticut and our country.  

Following such an extreme act of school violence, it is essential that I communicate to you that nothing is more important to CESU’s administrative team than the safety of both your precious children and our dedicated staff. 

We have devoted time, reflection and effort in developing and implementing school-wide safety plans. Assistant Superintendent, Jennifer Botzojorns and I will be meeting with each principal on Monday, December 17th, to touch base about the needs of the school community and to review safety/security.  These are our number one priorities. 

Please know that the Chittenden East Supervisory Union faculty, staff and administrators are committed to supporting students and families as we share our sadness and reflect on the tragic events. Below are links to resources that may help you in talking with your children:
