Alaska Day PBIS Celebration! #resvt #cesuvt

RES students have been RESpecting themselves, RESpecting each other, and RESpecting their school environment, and they earned a schoolwide celebration! Today we enjoyed Alaska Day throughout the school. The centerpiece of our Alaska Day celebration was a visit from Starbird Fish captain Tony Naples. Starbird Fish is a Vermont company that has provided salmon for our Wild Alaska Month in the RES cafeteria, and Captain Tony came to share some of his adventures salmon fishing in Alaska. Students enjoyed his photos and videos of porpoises, orcas, humpback whales, eagles, bears, and other Alaskan wildlife. He also brought whale bones for us to explore.

Students and staff also wore their favorite Alaskan clothes and shared Alaska-themed books and activities in their classrooms.

The other highlight of our day was a taste testing of Alaskan Salmon Cakes in the cafeteria. Students thought these were delicious, and we are sharing Captain Tony's recipe below. Thank very much to Captain Tony, Mrs. Kent and Mrs. Gifford, and everyone else who helped bring this special celebration to RES!
